Michael Douglas Reveals Affair With Jeanne Tripplehorn

Us Weekly reports the 82-year-old actor writes about the 'Basic Instinct' costar in his new memoir.

Michael Douglas has another on-set romance to confess. Us Weekly reports that in his new memoir, One Helluva Ride, the 82-year-old addresses a long-standing rumor about his Basic Instinct costar Sharon Stone, then redirects it: the costar he fell for was Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Douglas writes, according to Page Six, that he fell hard for Tripplehorn despite their nearly 20-year age difference. “The truth is, I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference,” he wrote. “In fact, I was ready to officially leave my wife for Jeanne. I was crazy about her.” He added that the relationship lasted through production, then they went their separate ways, and he will always think of her as “an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman.”

Douglas was still married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, during the production. Us Weekly reports he ultimately stayed with his marriage rather than jump straight into a new serious relationship. The couple divorced in 1995, and Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. Tripplehorn, 63, married actor Leland Orser that same year.

This is not the only buried romance in the book. Us Weekly reports Douglas also confirms a secret relationship with Romancing the Stone costar Kathleen Turner, something both denied for decades. “The truth is that during the production of Romancing the Stone, Kathleen and I fell hard for each other and began a relationship,” he wrote. He described sneaking into her hotel room after everyone was asleep, when there were “no cameras in elevators, no assistants using cell phones to take pictures.”

Turner, 72, has responded. Us Weekly reports she told People: “Good heavens, what a fuss about something 40 years ago! I love Michael, and I look forward to enjoying the book.”

One Helluva Ride is available now, Us Weekly reports. At 82, Douglas is clearly not taking these stories to the grave.
