Matthew Lowe weds Emily Markus in star-studded ceremony

Page Six reports that Rob Lowe's son Matthew Lowe married Emily Markus in Santa Barbara, California, with a guest list that reads like a Hollywood awards show. Cameron Diaz, Katy Perry, Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldaña were among those watching Matthew and Markus exchange vows.

Gwyneth Paltrow served as the ceremony's officiant, adding a touch of Goop to the proceedings. Before the big day, Markus teased the festivities on Instagram Stories, posting a sunset photo of tables and festive flags at local eatery Bluewater Grill with the caption "It's wedding weekend eve!"

Matthew, 33, is the eldest of two sons born to Rob Lowe and his wife of 35 years, Sheryl Berkoff. Their younger son John Lowe, 30, also attended.

The tragic loss

The milestone moment comes less than two weeks after Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of Rob's brother Chad Lowe, died by suicide, according to Los Angeles Medical Examiner records obtained by Page Six on Oct. 1. The family confirmed the loss in a statement to Page Six, calling Fiona "the light of our lives" and asking for privacy.

Chad, best known for "Pretty Little Liars," and his wife Kim Painter share three daughters: Mabel, 17, Nixie, 10, and the late Fiona. John Lowe marked the loss on Instagram with an Emily Dickinson poem about hope.

Rob Lowe and his family have not commented publicly on the wedding or the tragedy, but the wedding's timing suggests a family choosing to celebrate life even as they grieve.
