Kelly Stafford on LA Parenting: 'We Have to Stay Grounded'
The Rams QB's wife opens up about the pressure of raising four daughters in Los Angeles and the importance of staying grounded with a strong community.

Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, told Us Weekly that raising their four daughters in Los Angeles comes with specific challenges. The 37-year-old said she feels pressure to look a certain way in the city and can only imagine what that pressure will be like for her daughters as they grow up.
“I, as a 37-year-old woman, feel pressure to look a certain way here,” Kelly told Us while promoting her partnership with Wayfair. She hopes her daughters see the beauty standards as "just what people do here" but acknowledged it will be difficult.
The Staffords share twins Sawyer and Chandler, 9, Hunter, 8, and Tyler, 6. Kelly said she and Matthew want a simpler upbringing for the girls, noting that neither of them grew up in the lifestyle their children now have. “We already kind of don’t know what we’re doing because neither of us grew up this way,” she explained.
To stay grounded, Kelly said it's about surrounding yourself with people who have known you forever and can "call you out on your bulls***." She also emphasized using manners, opening doors for people, and having respect for others — qualities she says are important everywhere but feel "ramped up" in California.
As for what happens when Matthew, now in his 18th NFL season, eventually retires, the couple hasn't decided whether to leave LA. Kelly told Us that she misses her family and gets emotional thinking about missing her nieces and nephews growing up. But she also recognizes that her daughters have routines, friends, and sports teams, and that her husband loves living in California. “So, what’s the compromise? I don’t know yet,” she said.
In the meantime, the Staffords have partnered with Wayfair Delivers on its Wayfair Rewards program and Wayfair Verified, a curated selection of products. Kelly said she wants furniture that can handle kids making mistakes, because she and Matthew want their children to fail and learn at home.
