Psycho, Jaws and more: Netflix's October classic movie lineup
Us Weekly confirms Netflix is adding eight classic films, from Hitchcock to Spielberg.

Netflix is leaning into the spooky season with its classic movie library. Us Weekly reports that eight films from the archives are hitting the streamer in October.
The lineup
The list runs from horror to romance to epic dramas. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, its sequel Psycho II, and Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein lead the scary side. Steven Spielberg's Jaws and James Cameron's Aliens bring the thrills.
If romance is more your speed, Sleepless in Seattle is on the menu, and for something entirely different, there's Lawrence of Arabia and Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It.
Why they still hold up
Us Weekly's write-up highlights why these movies last. Psycho gets under your skin because of Anthony Perkins' nervous, desperate performance. Aliens is both a tense thriller and a showcase for Sigourney Weaver, who netted an Oscar nomination for her work. Jaws still makes you uneasy about the water, 50 years after its release. And Lawrence of Arabia, at 222 minutes, remains a sweeping epic that feels essential today.
This is a good month for subscribers looking for movies that don't require a universe: no capes, no expanding mythologies. Just classics that earned their status.
