Kelly Osbourne on grief, 28 pounds and leaving LA

She told The Sun she gained 28 pounds after grief left her barely able to eat, and credits a therapist her mother found with saving her life.

**Reported**: Kelly Osbourne told The Sun she has gained 28 pounds in the six months since February, after grief over her father's death left her barely able to eat. TMZ reported the interview.

Osbourne, whose father was Ozzy Osbourne, said photos of her at the BRIT Awards caught her off guard. She said she had no idea how thin she had gotten, and that the scale has climbed 28 pounds since.

What she says about the grief

She said she was not dealing with an eating disorder. Her grief, she said, was heavy enough that eating made her physically sick.

At one point she brought a candle to her father's grave and asked him to help her get better. The next day, she said, her mother, Sharon Osbourne, introduced her to a therapist, Chris Miller. Osbourne credits Miller with saving her life.

Her appearance has drawn attention before. TMZ has reported that she repeatedly pushed back at critics who commented on her weight.

The PR Read

One sit-down that covers grief, a denial about an eating disorder and a relocation does a lot of work at once. Public figures starting over usually pick a single outlet and say everything in it, rather than letting photos and pap walks assemble the story for them. The British press tends to get these interviews because the family is a known quantity there. What moves like this signal, most of the time, is a reset: new city, new routine, new terms.

The move, and what comes next

Osbourne is leaving Los Angeles for the English countryside with her 3-year-old son, Sidney, after a split from her fiancé, Sid Wilson. She said she wants her son to have a stable childhood, one where school shootings aren't part of the picture. She has joined his school's PTA.

After a stretch she describes as devastating, she says she is finally starting to feel like herself again.
