Hulu's October Additions: Three Movies, Three Very Different Scores
Us Weekly breaks down the newly streaming films by their Rotten Tomatoes ratings, from classic to questionable.

If you're scrolling Hulu this month and feel like every option is either a Marvel movie you've seen twice or a rom-com where the two leads hate each other until they don't — Us Weekly has your October streaming sorted. They rounded up three new arrivals with Rotten Tomatoes scores. The results are genuinely all over the place.
First up: Tim Burton's "Edward Scissorhands," which sits at a comfortable 92 percent. Us Weekly calls it a sweet fable that could be set in the 1950s or today, with a Danny Elfman score that apparently makes snowflakes hit different. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder play lonely souls who fall in love. It's the kind of movie that makes you forget Depp later became a legal drama.
Then there's "Ghostbusters," at 95 percent. According to Us Weekly, this 1984 classic invented the sci-fi comedy genre and hasn't aged a day. Bill Murray's sarcastic wiseass routine still works, and Sigourney Weaver barks like a dog on command. The source notes that no sequel or reboot has matched it — which feels like a polite way of saying the 2016 one was a swing-and-a-miss and the 2021 one was fine.
And then there's "Die Hard 2." Let's be honest: getting a 68 percent on Rotten Tomatoes for a sequel to a movie that's on every "best Christmas films" list feels like being told you're above average but not invited to the party. Still, Us Weekly says the airport setting ups the stakes, and Bruce Willis still quips like a pro. It's the streaming equivalent of that third option you pick because the first two were taken.
So there you have it: two undeniable classics and one movie that's technically good but will never escape its older brother's shadow. Happy streaming.
