Cornell Frat Member: Accuser 'Sodomized' Me, School Ignored Me
Matthew Ingalls, one of seven former Chi Phi brothers sued for gang rape, says in a letter to Cornell that he is the real victim and the university failed him as a male survivor.

A Cornell University fraternity member accused in an alleged gang rape now claims he was the one who was sexually assaulted, and says the school ignored him because he is a man.
Matthew Ingalls, a former Chi Phi brother, wrote to Cornell's Title IX office in February 2025 that he was "sodomized by her while [he] was incapacitated," according to documents obtained by ABC News.
Ingalls accused Cornell of gender discrimination for not telling him about his rights under the school's sexual misconduct procedures.
His email comes after Jane Doe sued Cornell, Chi Phi and seven former fraternity members last month, accusing them of drugging and gang raping her in October 2024 at the Chi Phi house. Doe says she was heavily intoxicated after consuming alcohol, marijuana and ketamine, and that the encounter escalated after fraternity brothers were invited into the room.
Ingalls and the other six accused students deny raping Doe. None have been criminally charged.
Cornell expelled Ingalls and Jonathan Newell after an internal investigation. Other members received suspensions or lesser penalties.
The case has already prompted a reopened criminal investigation. The Tompkins County District Attorney's Office initially declined to prosecute, citing Doe's prior statements about voluntarily taking drugs and alcohol. New York Attorney General Letitia James has now been assigned to oversee the investigation, which remains ongoing.
